The City of Irvine is seeking an individual with experience managing commercial irrigation systems to fill a Landscape Maintenance Specialist position in the Landscape Division of the Public Works Department. The Specialist will operate the cities’ RainBird MaxiComTM central irrigation control system as well as troubleshoot associated field hardware. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills and knowledge of horticultural principles are essential to this position.The position requires the ability to set up and fine-tune schedules for non-centrally controlled systems, including ET-adjusting and traditional controllers; as well as application of the principles of soil-water-plant relationships to the development and improvement of irrigation schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with technical training in landscape maintenance, water management or irrigation design and/or troubleshooting and maintenance; and four years specialized landscape maintenance experience, or equivalent.
Additionally, the following qualifications are highly desirable: a degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Irrigation Science or a closely related subject; three years of recent experience operating MaxiCom software in a governmental/commercial/institutional setting; completion of the RainBird MaxiCom level II operations course; and a class A California driver’s license.
