BOTTLE PALM
- Also called 'Elephant's Foot' because of
its swollen base, Beaucarnea recurvata is a choice specimen for
mild climates. It is native to dry regions of Texas and Mexico.
Extremely slow growing, it can be held in containers for years.
- Narrow, green leaves arising from central bud. On mature
trees, leaves can be as long as six feet; about 3/4 inches wide,
and multiple trunks can develop. Very old specimens can produce
clusters of white flowers.
- Requires full sun and good drainage. Water deeply and infrequently.
Indoors, provide bright light and allow soil to dry between waterings.
- Eventual height 30 feet.
