CARROTWOOD
- A handsome evergreen tree that produces deep
shade. The carrotwood boasts dark green leathery leaves and a
rounded canopy. A good choice for urban settings in warm climates;
hardy to 20 degrees.
- The carrotwood grows slowly and needs little training or
pruning. It tolerates a wide range of soils, and will survive
both alkaline and soggy conditions. Tolerates heat and drought.
- In maturity, some trees produce orange fruit, one of the
tree's few drawbacks. The fruit is hard and inedible, and although
it does not stain, it can be an annoyance.
- Grows to 40 feet high.
