NECTARINE
- "Goldmine" is a low-chill requirement
nectarine, suitable for areas with mild winters. Other low-chill
nectarines include "Desert Dawn," "Fantasia,"
"Panamint" and "Silver Lode."
- Nectarines require well drained soil and even moisture. Require
heavy pruning for best fruit production, up to two-thirds of
the previous year's new branches should be removed during the
dormant season.
- Fertilize regularly. Thin fruit when about one inch wide.
- Like peaches, nectarines are prone to peach leaf curl. Spray
with copper, Bordeaux mix or lime sulfur in November and January
for prevention; once symptoms occur there are no controls.
- Height to 25 feet, but easily controlled by pruning to 15
feet.
