SQUARE BAMBOO
- As its common name suggests, C. quadrangularis,
boasts 1-inch square culms. Although it is a running bamboo,
it is less invasive than C. marmorea because it only produces
a few new shoots a year.
- The thick-walled, sturdy culms are sometimes used as plant
stakes. They are dark green when new, becoming brownish green
with occasional purple blotches when mature.
- As well as a vertical accent in the garden, the Square Bamboo
is recommended for container plantings.
- It is hardy to 19 degrees F.
- Height to 10-30 feet.
