TEXAS UMBRELLA TREE
- A fast-growing, adaptable deciduous tree
hardy to 0 degrees F, also known as the Chinaberry. Tolerates
poor soils, slow drainage, alkalinity. Prefers regular irrigation,
but will tolerate drought once established. Good choice for harsh
environments.
- Clusters of 1-inch lavender flowers in springtime, fragrant.
Fruit that follows is 3/4-inch, yellowish brown and hard; fruits
prolifically, but birds eat most of the seeds.
- Height to 50 feet in optimum conditions; 20 feet in desert
regions.
