TREE LUPIN
- Actually more like a shrub than a tree, the
Tree Lupin is a relative of the Texas Bluebonnet and one of the
largest of the lupins. It is native to California.
- The leaflets are finger-shaped, growing in a circle at the
tip of the stalks and somewhat hairy. Flowers in spring or summer
with upright clusters of sulfur-yellow flowers. Varieties are
available that have white or purple flowers.
- Needs good drainage, but not particular otherwise as to soil
type. Drought tolerant once established. Good choice for coastal
gardens.
- Height to 8 feet.
