WILLOW ACACIA * Acacia salicina
- This Australian native has dark green foliage
and semi-weeping growth. Grows well in both coastal locations
and desert, hardy to 22 degrees F. Cream-colored flowers in fall,
winter and early spring.
- Stake and support when young; produces heavy growth on main
trunk. Produces dense growth in the center; prune to remove crossing
and competing branches and to encourage upright growth. Prune
with restraint, however; heavy pruning encourages sucker growth.
- Drought tolerant once established.
- Height to 30 feet.
